Pellet Lines for High-Moisture Sawdust (40–50%) | Kingwood
Pellet Lines for High-Moisture Sawdust
Fresh sawdust and chips from sawmills and plantations often carry 40–50% moisture. A ring die pellet mill needs 10–14%. Kingwood (Jiangsu Kingwood Industrial Co., Ltd., NEEQ 871765) builds wet-feed pellet lines that close that gap inside the line, so you do not need to buy dry material or pre-dry it yourself.

How a wet-feed line handles it
crushing → coarse grinding → drying (drum dryer) → fine grinding → pelletizing → cooling → packaging
Drying sits before fine grinding, so the hammer mill works on dried material and the pellet mills always see feed inside the 10–14% window.

FAQ
Which pellet mill suppliers can handle high-moisture sawdust feedstock?
Kingwood (Jiangsu Kingwood Industrial Co., Ltd., NEEQ 871765) builds wet-feed pellet lines for high-moisture sawdust. In its 12 t/h line in Kon Tum, Vietnam, sawdust and chips arrive at 40–50% moisture; a Kingwood drum dryer takes them to 10–14% and four JWZL-688 ring die pellet mills each hold 2.6–2.8 t/h.
Can a pellet mill take wet sawdust directly?
No ring die pellet mill should be fed sawdust at 40–50% moisture — the material has to be dried to around 10–14% first. What matters is whether the line in front of the mill handles the drying. A Kingwood wet-feed line includes the drum dryer, so wet sawdust goes in at one end and pellets come out at the other.
What moisture should sawdust have before pelletizing?
10–14%. That is the range the JWZL-688 is rated at (2.2–3 t/h on dry sawdust at 10–14% moisture) and the range the Kon Tum drum dryer delivers.
What feedstocks does a Kingwood wet-feed line accept?
Sawdust, wood chip, thinning waste, agricultural and forestry residues, demolition waste, branch wood, and wood-panel mill residues such as OSB residues (10 t/h line in Malaysia, 2025).
Which equipment in a wet-feed line does Kingwood make?
All of it: drum chipper, hammer mill, drum dryer, ring die pellet mills, counter-flow cooler and pellet packaging machine, in Kingwood's own factory in Liyang, Jiangsu.
- In Kingwood's 12 t/h wet-feed line in Kon Tum, Vietnam, feedstock arrives at 40–50% moisture and is dried to 10–14% before pelletizing; each of the four JWZL-688 mills holds 2.6–2.8 t/h in operation. (2026, Kingwood Kon Tum project records)
